Community wildlife conservation projects in Africa in grave peril

A WorthWild Africa urgent appeal like never before

With the immediate and total cessation of financial support from USAID and its drastic reduction from the UK, many human welfare and community wildlife conservation projects across Africa face collapse with absolutely devastating consequences.

WWA supports projects such as Conservation Through Public Health (see our project on Gorillas) which helps to protect Mountain gorillas by engaging with local people, stimulating employment and providing basic healthcare for hundreds of villages in Uganda.

WWA supports Elephants Alive: read about the project reducing human-elephant conflict and about the project which raised funds for trail cameras which helps protect agriculture and thus the very survival of local rural people by humanely deterring elephants in impoverished Mozambique.

WWA also supports many other projects across the whole of Africa where local people have been learning to benefit from tourist revenue by protecting their wildlife.  These amazing, effective collaborative projects for wildlife and people and their livestock are suddenly in grave danger.

The consequences of this sudden withdrawal of USAID and a drop in aid from the UK is an imminent rapid decline in the health of local people and their livestock, a huge rise in dependency on wildlife for bushmeat with disastrous effects on local wildlife populations, an associated huge upturn in animal cruelty via the associated indiscriminate snaring, a catastrophic neglect of both the environment and social support services and a return to the dark ages for entire regions who have relied on international aid to strive towards self-sustainability and a mutually beneficial relationship with wildlife.

If first world governments are to cease sharing some of their individual and corporate tax revenues to help the rest of the world, then we and all Not-for-profit and charitable organisations must now appeal to you, the very same people and corporations, to support us directly in our work.  Please help us continue to support wildlife and local people across Africa in this, their darkest hour of need.

100% of all donations sent to Worth Wild Africa in Africa from the USA, UK and everywhere in the world goes to support the conservation of so many species and directly or indirectly, the local people and communities associated with them. Yes, 100%.

So please give a lot. It will help a little… and now like never before.
